Sabbatical Week 1

Employees of the company I work for earn a 6 week paid sabbatical once they have been with the company for 12 years. Phew. It’s been 12 years and I am in week 1 of my sabbatical.

My bosses took trips to Europe with one or members of their family. My husband does not have that kind of PTO / vacation and he’ll be home with me on paternity leave later this year. I also am keeping my obligations to teach children at church on Wednesdays and Sundays, and thus might only be able to take a one or two day trip somewhere, infant and toddler (or two toddlers you might say) in tow.

Monday and Tuesday this week I started off with appointments in town and felt that that kind of dictated the rest of the day. And I’m tired. While I’m in my second trimester, there are several things I could be doing to help myself to have more energy. Today is not hindered by anywhere I have to be at a certain time and the girls are at daycare. My goal today is to aquire a few boards and shelves to add a bit more organization / storage to our home – our 1930s bungalow that has only two closets and one pantry and limited kitchen storage. I also don’t think anyone had as much stuff in the 30s as families do today.

I also get to go grocery shopping in store. Monday I acquired a WIC card which I believe has to be used in store. I’m not sure there is way to make use of it with pickup or delivery, thought I have very much appreciated the convenience of those options. Let me education in the WIC world begin.

Thank you, Lord, for this sabbatical and for everything .
